The Return of Jenifa
Finally, the long awaited cinema debut of the final sequel of the monster hit movie ‘The Return of Jenifa (TROJ), premiered last week at the prestigious Muson Center,Lagos. The movie released had in attendance celebrities and people from all walks of life in attendance
Despite the heavy rain that messed up the beautifully designed red carpet at the premiere of Funke Akindele’s ‘The Return of Jenifa’ which held at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos, on Friday, October 7, 2011, the hall was still fully packed with lots of celebrities and notable guests who defied the rain to honor the star actress.
Eminent personalities including the first lady of Lagos State Abimbola Fashola and former Ogun state governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba and his wife joined movie stars, music artistes, producers, directors, marketers, publishers, captains of industries and other distinguished guests who
added colour to the event.
The music and movie industries were well represented at the premiere as their members came in their numbers, notable among them were Kate Henshaw Nuttal,Omawunmi Megbele,Helen Paul,Omoni Oboli,Kaffy,Sasha,Mercy Aigbe,Halima Abubakar,Oge Okoye
After about two hours of cocktails, comedian AY, who was the MC led guests to the hall for the business of the night. Co-compeers included Alibaba, Gbenga Adeyinka, Julius Agwu and Tee-A.The movie written and produced by Funke Akindele finally resolved the unanswered question that engulfed Jenifa’s exploits. Funke Akindele (Jenifa) is required to undergo an HIV test as a prerequisite for her to take part in a dancing competition abroad, skeptical about her status, she fled. Chains of events afterwards held the audience spellbound. According to industry source, the movie has been number one since last week Friday attracting a huge patronage and grossing millions.
Directed by DJ Tee, the movie stars a celebrity line up which includesAntar Laniyan, Eldee the Don, Banky W, Denrele, Iyabo Ojo, Ireti Osayemi, Helen Paul, Late Comedian CD John, Omawunmi, Yinka Quadri and others.
