GNA – The GOIA, an international company in Mauritius, will in collaboration with Ocean Products (OPG) Limited establish a production unit in Tema, to produce omega-rich oil derivative, for the production of NESTLE infant food. A statement signed by Mr Rex Dankwa, Executive Director of RICS Consult, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, said OPG, already incorporated in Ghana as a Free Zone company will procure raw material for the production of the oil from Pioneer Food Cannery Limited, processor of tuna in Ghana. Madam Philipa Banson, Nkoranza South District Director of Education, on Friday asked parents of physically challenged children not to restrict the children at home and deny them education.

She gave the advice when she accompanied staff and inmates of Shalom Special School for Mentally Handicapped Children at Nkoranza to visit Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, District Chief Executive (DCE), at his residence.

Madam Banson commended the staff of the school for their dedication to mentally handicapped children.

Mr Agyekum said the Assembly had decided to re-locate the school and provide it with more accommodation to enable it to admit more children and staff.

The DCE commended the children for their handiness as they played drums, sang and danced, as expressed themselves in Twi and the English language.

He asked parents of such children to enroll them in physically challenged schools “so that they will become useful in society, since it is only the dead who are useless”.

President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday said for the first time, Ghana has produced more than one million tonnes of cocoa in 2011, and the country's output last year, was more than 50 per cent of the produce in 2008 which was 680,000 tonnes.

He said in terms of the percentage of the world cocoa price paid to the farmer, Ghana out-performed every Government in the country's history.

President John Evans Mills Thursday presented his fourth State Of The Nation Address to parliament.

This was the President’s last for his first term. He talked about his achievements in the last three years and the steps he intends to take to win the war against corruption.

“The economy is full of promise and in terms of development; we are making substantial progress even though there is still a lot of work to be done,” he stated.

“Over the past three years that I have been President, much has been achieved in pursuance of our 'Better Ghana' Agenda,” President Mills said, and conceded, “Even though we have experienced internal and external constraints, we have reason to be hopeful of Ghana’s future.

GNA – Three Ghanaian athletes will represent the nation at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Indoor Championships in Instanbul, Turkey next month.

Information gathered from the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) by GNA Sports said, sprinters Vida Anim and Tim Abayie will represent Ghana in the women and men's 60 meters race respectively.

According to the information, Ignatius Gaisah, silver medalist at the just ended All Africa Games (AAG) in Long Jump, will also make a representation at the championship, which commences on March 9 and ends on March 11, at the Ataköy Athletics Arena, Instanbul, Turkey.
